Meet the Artist
Charley Jordan Gips

Charley is an interdisciplinary artist, teaching artist, and storyteller who creates immersive worlds for the viewer to connect to. Usually in the form of fantastical creatures, concepts of duality, the healing properties of the imagination, and exploring her personal philosophies of human existence in the vastness of the universe.
Her mediums range from film/animation, mixed media, painting, drawing, graphic design, sound design, comics, and sculpture. Which she developed during her time at Parsons School of Design where she received her BFA in Illustration and later her MA in Art Education at Adelphi University. She also has certificates in Trauma Informed Care and Art Therapy.
Her work explores otherness and the interconnection between reality and fantasy. Her work has been dubbed, “cosmic” by many who bare witness to it and often gives viewers a sense of whimsy like no other. She invites the viewer into her cosmic worlds of mystery and wonder to explore what lies beyond the boundaries of our physical, spiritual, and mental states of being.
Charley works as a High School Art Educator in Rural Sullivan County where she inspires her students to be curious and creative problem solvers. She has also been a Teaching Artist with Bethel Woods Center for the Arts since 2019 and has continued to perfect her teachings with a variety of art skills and range of students. In 2021, she founded COSMICWORLDS, a brand of space related artwork that consists of t-shirts, sneaker art, prints, jewelry, sculptures, and stop-motion animation, stickers, and light work. This site is the first official online store of COSMICWORLDS after her Etsy store.
In her free time, Charley enjoys snuggling with her cat Shivamoon, experiencing nature, going on adventures with friends, and spending time with family. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you encounter issues with your order. Thank you!
All the best,
